30 Years of Homegrown Press

Join us as painter John Lackey goes back to his roots. He has printed 30 years of blocks to celebrate this anniversary. Have a look.

We hope you'll see something you like.

Back to our roots

Paintings

John is taking an extended hiatus from painting to focus attention on Homegrown Press in celebration of its 30 years of existence by printing all of his previous blocks and carving new ones. We will be putting up a gallery of some favorites from his 20 years of painting soon.

Giving Back

Artists don't always make a lot of money during their first 30 years, so they help out causes they appreciate by donating their time and/or art. John and his wife Jenny have produced a decent number of posters for events for common good over the years, and continue that work by donating 10% of profits to a different charity each quarter.

Upcoming Book of Poetry

Testimonials

This artist has an interesting studio......We stopped in, and he engaged us in a lovely conversation about his art, about Lexington, and gave us some great recommendations of places to go. Just the kind of local experience that adds to your trip.
He is working on a stop action movie from the huge murals he is painting on the walls of the studio. Check out https://www.facebook.com/HomegrownPress and pay him a visit.

Amby from Trip Advisor Review

Love your prints so much, John!!!

Marianne Worthington

John Lackey opens his studio for showings occasionally, and the door is generally open when he is working there. His work is split between block prints (mostly natural subjects), small abstract paintings (flowing, colorful), and large landscape paintings in his signature style. The large landscapes are gorgeous, mostly Kentucky subjects. He blends the realism of light, reflections, water, and atmosphere with surrealist embellishments in a truly masterful way.
